Thank you for being an integral part of our capital campaign.
With the help of visionary supporters like you, we have begun to make considerable progress toward our goals. We have already accomplished the first of our 3 projects: In April 2012, we opened the doors to the new Hornell Health Center. After an extensive search, PPSFL purchased a doctor's office close to downtown, near the high school, with a private parking lot. Renovations were undertaken immediately and now our Hornell patients enjoy a modern, safe, and professional medical facility and the regular protesters at this site are forced to remain on the sidewalk a good distance from the patient entrance.
Over the next three years, with your generous help, we will construct a new regional health and educational center in Ithaca and renovate our existing Corning Health Center. This will double our clinical capacity and create an Educational Resource Center and community conference and training center in Ithaca. In Corning, renovations will enable us to create a vibrant advocacy and education center and lease a modern, well-equipped center with increased capacity (what is currently the Guthrie Cancer Center).
These three projects together will cost $8 million, the majority of which will be raised through our $6.35 million capital campaign.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our work and our campaign. I hope you are inspired to support A Time to Build: The Campaign for Planned Parenthood, and the mission that our projects and your generous donations will support:
We are committed to providing quality reproductive health care and sexuality education for all people in our community regardless of age, race, ethnicity, physical ability or attributes, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability to pay. Since 1996, we have been the designated provider of sexual violence response and education services in Chemung, Steuben, and Schuyler counties.
Today, PPSFL operates five health centers across the Southern Finger Lakes region, in Ithaca, Elmira, Corning, Hornell, and Watkins Glen. Our award-winning educators visit schools, places of worship, and community centers in every county we serve. Our Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) staff and volunteers provide direct care to victims and their families in Steuben, Schuyler, and Chemung counties.
In 2012, our skilled health care professionals provided high-quality, affordable medical care to nearly 12,000 women, men, and teens, and our amazing programming staff reached almost 14,000 people with essential information about sexuality, decision-making, sexual assault, and much more.
Some providers offer some of the services we provide at PPSFL, but there is no single agency in our four-county region that provides all of the services that PPSFL does for all patients, regardless of income or insurance coverage.
